Three moments when a cheatsheet beats a Google search
During implementation
Naming a new GA4 event? Picking a GTM trigger? One sheet on the desk beats 10 docs tabs.
During debugging
"Did I use paid_social or paid-social?" Glance, fix, move on.
For team onboarding
New marketer joins? Hand them the UTM and channel-grouping sheets. Five minutes vs an hour of explanation.
5 rules for getting the most out of cheatsheets
- Pick one topic per sheet β events, triggers, channels separately. Trying to fit everything on one page = unreadable.
- Version-date the print. GA4 evolves. A 6-month-old printout starts lying about channel rules and recommended events.
- Pin to Slack / Notion. The team needs the same answer the third person who asks. One canonical link beats 10 personal copies.
- Pair with the glossary. Cheatsheets are the "what" β the glossary explains the "why". Link both in your team's tracking handbook.
- Lowercase everything. The naming-conventions sheet exists for a reason β case-mismatch is the #1 cause of split sources in GA4.
Cheatsheet FAQ
Are these official Google cheatsheets?
No β they're hand-curated reference sheets compiled from real GA4/GTM implementation work. Each fact is cross-checked against Google's official docs at the time of publishing, with a "last updated" date on every sheet.
Can I include these in client deliverables?
Yes. Cheatsheets are free to print, save as PDF, or attach to client onboarding decks. We'd appreciate a credit link if you publish them externally, but no licence fees and no signup.
Do the cheatsheets cover GA4 360?
The base sheets (events, parameters, channels, triggers) apply to both GA4 and GA4 360. Where 360-only features exist (sub-properties, BigQuery export limits, custom-funnel limits) we mark them as "GA4 360".
Can I edit a cheatsheet for my own team?
Yes. Each sheet exports to plain Markdown, so you can copy it into Notion, Confluence, or your team wiki and edit it freely. The print view is also CSS-styled for clean A4/Letter output.
When do you update the cheatsheets?
Whenever Google ships a meaningful change to GA4 or GTM β new event types, channel-rule updates, deprecated parameters. The header on every sheet shows the last review date so you can verify against the current GA4 UI.
How is this different from the glossary?
The glossary defines terms one-by-one in long-form. Cheatsheets are dense, scannable tables you keep open during implementation work β every event, every parameter, every channel rule on one page.
